Exploring the Chakras: Root Chakra
The color red is associated with the root chakra – the color of blood and passion. We can envision a ball of red glowing at the base of our spine.
The root chakra is the lowest chakra in human beings (our first chakra) and is represented by the first element, Earth. It is considered the chakra of group consciousness and is connected with our physical bodies and ability to remain grounded to the physical realm. Feeling safe in the world and being able to trust other people likely means we have a balanced root chakra.
A balanced root chakra requires that our basic physical needs are currently met, but is more closely related to the experience we had as an infant. Having necessities such as food, water, safety and shelter at that time were crucial to developing a balanced root chakra but so did having our emotional needs met like security, support and trust. The planets state and the culture we were born into also plays a role in the balance of this chakra, along with race, religion, nationality, genes - essentially, our roots.
When this chakra is out of balance or blocked, we sometimes see:
↠ Anxiety
↠ Depression
↠ Addictive behaviours
↠ Aggression
↠ Control issues
↠ Insecure
↠ Irritable
↠ Kidney issues
↠ Lower back pain
When properly balanced and active, we see people who are:
✻ Secure
✻ Powerful
✻ Deeply energized
✻ Grounded
✻ Trusting
✻ Abundant
✻ Physically fit and strong
